Greetings of Peace in the name of Yah Yisrael (the God of Israel),
In the wake of the unspeakable tragedy that has befallen the people of Newtown, Connecticut, and on behalf of our entire community here at the Village of Peace we wish to express our sincere condolences to the bereaved families. As a small and close-knit community here in Israel, we can only imagine the pain that has touched everyone in Newtown, a pain that has spread across the globe.
Surely, anytime tragedy strikes in the manner in which it has, leaves us numb and without explanation. However, it is when so many of the victims are children that we come face-to-face with the realization of how far things have gotten out of hand. It is our prayer that humanity finds a way to stem the causes of this and other senseless tragedies that plague modern society.
Children here at our Akvah (“Brotherhood”) School return from their holiday break on Monday, and will mark the occasion with a moment of silence in remembrance of the students and staff of Sandy Hook Elementary School.
Let it be enough that these lives were extinguished in such a manner. Whether in a war zone or in a classroom, urban confines or rural countryside, our children deserve the chance for life.
May the Holy One of Israel lift up His countenance upon you… and grant you peace.
